I would like to have flat taxes. ?

Q: it will make much easy to file taxes and less people will steal from government. i heart europe have flat taxes.

A: First off, Europe does not have flat income taxes. I lived there for over 10 years and their income taxes are graduated much like ours are. And if you think the US Tax Code is complex, try the German Tax Code! Not only do you have to be fluent in German, but it is massively more complex than ours is. And how about 100% audit? Yep, that's the way it works in Germany. If you are very wealthy -- making something north of $350,000 per year -- then a flat tax might be a good idea. If you make less, you'll pay more than you do now, and possibly a LOT more. To raise the same revenue of our current graduated income tax, a flat tax would have to be levied at at least 25% with no exemptions or deductions. Under the current Tax Code, a Single person making $8,950 in 2008 would pay $0 in Federal income tax. But with a 25% flat tax, they'd pay over $2,237.00. If that sounds like a good deal, you must be hideously wealthy AND very cold-hearted.
